The TraderRanker guides library is built around one goal: giving traders the information they need to make clearer decisions — about platforms, instruments, risk, and strategy — before committing real capital. Trading Guides: Brokers, Fees, Risk & Strategy

Trading has a steep learning curve, and the information available online ranges from genuinely useful to actively misleading. Guides that promise shortcuts to profitability, «proven» systems, or low-risk strategies often serve the interests of whoever is promoting them — not the reader.

The guides on this page are structured differently. They are built to give you an accurate picture of how trading works, what the real costs are, and what you need to understand before placing a trade with real money. They do not promise results, and they do not simplify risks away.

If you are new to trading, start with the foundational guides: how brokerage accounts work, what a regulated broker means and why it matters, how fees are structured across different account types, and what a demo account can and cannot teach you before you go live.

If you are evaluating platforms, our comparison guides walk through the specific questions you should ask: What markets does the platform support? How is order execution handled? What happens if you want to withdraw funds? Is the broker registered with FINRA, the NFA, or another recognized authority in your jurisdiction?

If you are working on risk management, our guides cover position sizing frameworks, stop-loss placement, drawdown analysis, and the psychological dimensions of trading through losing periods — the parts of trading education that are most often skipped and most consequential when they are.

If you are building a strategy, our strategy-adjacent guides explain how different analytical frameworks work — technical analysis, fundamental analysis, chart patterns, and indicator-based approaches — with clear coverage of the conditions each method suits and the scenarios where it breaks down.

All guides are written in plain American English, without assumed knowledge. Where terminology is unavoidable, every term is defined on first use and linked to our glossary.
